Join Emma for a weekend of sewing in the Surrey countryside. You can choose either a structured class each day or bring your own project and enjoy uninterrupted sewing time.
Timetable
Day 1 – Friday
Arrive at the hotel from 4pm, book into your room, set up your sewing station, unpack and unwind! Join the group in the bar before dinner or just chill out. A 3 course dinner is served in the restaurant (drinks not included), after which you can relax in the bar, watch tv or continue to chill out.
Day 2 – Saturday
The day begins with full English or continental breakfast, you can also take a walk in the grounds to set yourself up for the day. The sewing room is open from 9.00am and Emma and Julie will be on hand for any last-minute queries. Tea and coffee plus biscuits and fruit will be available throughout the day with mid-morning and afternoon breaks. We will break for lunch (sandwiches, chips and salad), and if the weather is good, you could take a stroll round the grounds. The afternoon session officially finishes at 4.30pm but you can continue to sew until dinner or join the group in the bar for a drink before dinner or just chill out. In the evening, dinner is served (drinks not included) and then you can continue sewing into the evening or you can relax in the bar.
Day 3 – Sunday
On Sunday morning, breakfast is again full English or continental, and you can start sewing – It’s up to you whether to make an early start or emerge later after a lie-in. You will need to vacate your room by 11am. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day with mid-morning and afternoon breaks. You’ll enjoy another lovely lunch, then more sewing until 3.30pm, followed by a roundup of the weekend, with show and tell, before we all say goodbye at 4pm.
Tutor led topics on Saturday and Sunday are optional, they are included in the price but there is no reduction if you want to do your own thing.
On Saturday, join Emma to make a Foundation Paper Pieced (FPP) block that can be made into a cushion or table centre. It could also be made into a quilt by making multiple blocks. FPP is a super accurate way of making what would otherwise be a fiddly block but it’s sewn in reverse so can take some time to master. Emma will share tips and techniques for making it easier.
On Sunday, join Emma to make a 3D design using diamonds, half hexagons and Y seams – if you’ve always wanted to try Y seams but not known where to start this is the session for you as Emma will demonstrate and assist you in learning the techniques she finds easiest to master them.
