FAQs

How do I book a retreat?

You can book via the contact page on the website or by email. We will then send you a paypal invoice for the deposit and a second one for the balance when it is due. If there is an option to pay in instalments we will send invoices one week before the instalments are due. Once you have paid the deposit, you will receive an email confirmation of your place.

Do I need to be able to sew?

If you are booking a tutor led retreat, whilst it’s helpful if you have a basic level of sewing or patchwork skills, we are able to tailor our sessions for all abilities so you will be supported to work at your own pace. If you are booking a ‘Come and Sew’ retreat, there is no tuition included and you should be able to work unaided (obviously most quilters and sewists are happy to share their knowledge and ideas with others).

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Yes – if you are on a tutor led retreat, a fabric and equipment requirement list will be emailed to participants 4-6 weeks before the retreat. If you are on a ‘Come and Sew’ retreat, you will need to bring everything you need for your own project(s) other than ironing board and iron (although you might like to bring travel iron and board with you).

Can I hire a sewing machine?

We suggest that you bring your own machine as you will be more familiar with it. Don’t forget to bring any attachments, power cord, foot pedal, and ideally the manual (in case you need help). We have a limited number of machines available to hire. If you would like to hire a machine, please contact us at least 7 days before the retreat. Machine hire is £30 for the weekend.

Is the retreat accessible if I have mobility issues?

Yes. Please let us know when booking if you have any mobility needs such as ground floor rooms, so that we can check with the hotel and allocate you a room suitable for your needs.

Can you cater for special diets?

Please let us know at time of booking if you have any special dietary requirements so that we can inform the hotel in advance.

Is there a minimum age limit?

All participants must be over 16, under 18’s must be accompanied by a full paying adult and there is no reduction in the fee. There is no maximum age limit!

What if I have a complaint?

Any complaints must be directed to us as soon as possible, if within your stay we will do our utmost to help and resolve things. Alternatively, please write to us within 14 days of the end of the retreat with details of your complaint.
